VIDEO: Ex-Lesbian Recalls Leaving Her Wild Lifestyle For Jesus
Jan 03, 2018 by Alyssa Duvall
Emily Thomes, an ex-lesbian turned wife, churchgoer, and Christian blogger, shared her story of leaving behind homosexuality and her wild lifestyle with other women and turning to Jesus in a viral and controversial video on Facebook.
Thomes, who has spoken out about freedom from homosexuality since her experience with Christ, gave her story to Anchored North, an online evangelism ministry. In it, she touches on her previous lifestyle, as well as how she justified it—or so she thought—in God’s eyes: “God being love meant God was nice and God was chill with what you were cool with.”
However, after being invited to a bible study in her early 20s, Thomes became deeply convicted through the reading of scripture.
“Those who practice homosexuality, which was me, and also drunkards and a bunch of other things that I would’ve been, I realized that I was in the ‘will I enter the Kingdom of God?’ lineup and it scared me really really bad,” she said.
“And then I read verse 11,” Thomes continued, referring to 1 Corinthians 6:11. “And it says, ‘And such were some of you, but you are washed, you are sanctified, you are justified.'”
While many support her firm yet loving message to fellow sinners, LGBT advocates have denounced it, claiming it is “enough to push gay children over the edge to suicide.”
Ultimately, Thomes declares that those still lost in unrepentant sin need grace: “It’s not gay to straight. It’s lost to saved. God calls us not to heterosexuality but holiness.”
